While this latest release on Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace! label is one of the more focused recordings to have emerged from America’s prolific free-folk underground, that doesn’t imply any lack of adventure or invention. Instead, think ramshackle blues overlaid with beautifully sculpted feedback drones and infused with the howl-at-the-moon ecstasy of free jazz. Elisa Ambrogio’s limpid voice and enigmatic beat poetics are the final piece of the jigsaw, completing and augmenting this gloriously open-ended vision to perfection.
