  • At the risk of sounding like one of those God lovers outside football grounds who shout things like ‘Lehmann can’t save you; God will’, the end of the world is nigh. But take comfort in the knowledge that we’re not the first to think we’re about to meet our maker. The folk and blues legends here (Charley Patton, Bessie Smith, Blind Willie Johnson, The Carter Family) saw the Titanic sink, Hindenburg explode and Hiroshima burn. If it really is all over,  they thought, why not celebrate and have a party? Sounds like a plan.
