The formerly fright-wigged, black-clad Horrors gang surprised – and impressed – everyone with their terrific experimental electronica/psychedelic pop LP of 2009, 'Primary Colours', which justly won them a Mercury nomination for its advancement of their psych-punk template. Now with a third album in tow – 'Skying' (XL) – Faris Badwan and co show off their widescreen, dramatically glittering synth-pop sound, which recalls Psychedelic Furs and Simple Minds. Support from their pals Toy, an exciting young east London drone/psychedelic krautrock quintet in thrall to Neu!, MBV and House Of Love.
