Romford's finest return to remind us just how vital, viscerally engaging and inventive post-techno performed by a band set-up – however minimal – can be. Karl Hyde's poignantly delivered, urban poetry/sprechgesang is now underpinned by everything from post-rock to modern classical as well as deep house, glitch and techno, as last year's terrifically evocative LP 'Oblivion With Bells' attests. If they deliver most of that, plus classics like 'Rez', 'Pearl's Girl' and of course the anthem 'Born Slippy', it should be one hell of a show. Here plugging new Romford-referencing single, 'Ring Road. First of two nights.
