I went to XOYO back in Feb to see Simian Mobile Disco and Joakim. Had an amazing night. Really good atmosphere, good sound... Definitely going back soon! A must!

Established in 2010, this excellent Shoreditch venue quickly cemented itself as one of the most tasteful gig and clubbing venues in the area, thanks to a booking selection that ignored genre and simply focused on quality. It continues to operate in a discerning way thankfully, with an enormously wide-range of the latest DJs, bands and producers all finding a home over its two floors (the upstairs of which, is also known as Shoreditch Butchery).

One of the best nights out in London!
Huge upgrades to the sound system and lighting over the years have made Xoyo probably the best night for me in London!
I always go on a Monday and Tuesday for their student nights, sometimes even on the weekends to see the big DJs play! Have so much fun with my friends there, great drinks prices, friendly staff and cool music!
Great club! Really good vibe and everyones friendly. The Martin Audio system is insane in the basement and makes the music and atmosphere of the whole club!
Attended a lot of the Eats Everything & Jackmaster nights over the past few months and every one of them was wicked. The fact they can bring in really big name DJ's such as Disclosure, Tale Of Us, Joy Orbison and Kenny Dope to such an intimate venue is great. All of the staff at the club are really accomodating and there are never really any queues in the club unlike some venues around London. Gotta mention that the lighting is always on point too!
Looking forward to heading to more nights there during the Simian Mobile Disco residency!
I have been to a number of nights at XOYO during the Jackmaster residency series and every time have been blown away and itching to come back. Each time on arrival, Ive been greeted by friendly and welcoming door staff and reasonable queues. The drink prices and selection are good and the queues for the bar/cloak room/toilets are never too big. The main room in the basement has an excellent sound system and always an electric atmosphere, there is always a good crowd at XOYO who are there for the music and the party! Can't wait to get back to XOYO for the next residency series with Simian Mobile Disco!
Brilliant venue. Great line ups and vibey place. Friend came to visit London so took her there on a Friday night with pre-booked tickets. Had a blast. Going back again. A definite visit if anyone's looking for a good night out.
XOYO was a great experience. I have been twice since February seeing The Neighbourhood and Simian Mobile Disco. Both great nights out!! Cool atmosphere and great staff.
XOYO has been one of my favourite London clubs for a long time. There's always a great atmosphere and when the downstairs room is bouncing it's one of the best vibes in town. An essential visit for any clubber in London
I wouldn't say I have ever had a fantastic time there however I have spent a fair amount. The nights are quite repetitive, you don't have the same feeling of having a massive night out in the same way that you do when you go to Fabric. There is also an awkward mix of men in suits and women in heels with others in jeans and trainers. I don't think this club really knows what it is as I would assume jeans and trainers kind of night.
Attend this dump last week. Would recommend that you avoid it like the plague. Please see below for e-mail I sent XOYO about our experience: Hello I attended the Sunshine Underground gig at your venue on Wednesday. The whole experience of visiting your venue was very disappointing and the least customer friendly experience I have had in a long time. My two friends also found it disappointing, from your over officious and frankly rude staff to the enforcement of rules that appear to serve no purpose and that your staff refuse to explain. When my friends and I arrived there was no queue so we headed toward the door to be told that we had to cross the road and stand next to a wall on the pavement opposite where one of your staff was stationed, who then said "Right, you can go in now!" 1) What was that about? 2) Why were we made to cross the road and queue up like naughty children when it was unnecessary? About 5 mins after being in the venue I realised I had left my glasses in a pub. The pub was about 60 seconds from your venue, in fact, you could almost see it, yet when I asked to be allowed to go and retrieve my glasses was told that if I left the venue I wouldn't be allowed back in. When I asked why I was told that "They're the rules". I again asked why, and also questioned what the point of stamping my hand on the way in was if I am not to be allowed to retrieve my glasses, to be told by your staff that he didn't need to explain any rule & I would not be allowed in if I went to get my glasses. 3) Why do you stamp people's hands if you do not allow people to leave? 4) Why do you not allow people to leave and then re-enter when they give a perfectly valid reason? Let's not bother discussing £4 for a small can of crap lager. Let's just say that you know it's a rip off, I know it's a rip off, Stevie Wonder knows it's a rip off, and move on. Finally, the sound in your venue is atrocious. I commented to my friends during the support band and then the music being played before TSU came on that I was concerned at the sound quality and for me, it totally ruined TSU's performance. I have seen them on a number of occasions and know their songs well, but the sound was so bad in your venue that there were songs that were frankly almost unrecognisable. All in all, the experience of going to your club can only leave one to think that it is purely a money making exercise with no thought whatsoever about the customer or customer service. I shall certainly never return. In fact, The Beatles could reform, including a miraculous recovery of the two dead ones, and I could have guest passes for me and all of my friends and I wouldn't enter your venue. Please can you answer the questions raised in this e-mail, and also provide me with a list of any other venues that XOYO and any of it's owners or managers hold a stake in so that I can avoid them too? Yours faithfully Peter Wileman
Went down to XOYO on Friday to see the last ever DURRR and although Todd Terje had to cancel, they still came out with an amazing show. We had the opportunity to get our ticket refunded and i'm glad I didn't. I've now booked to go back this week!!
My friends came down from Newcastle especially for last weekend and I thought they held an amazing night. We were all really surprised with the friendliness of the staff and quick service all round.
My first time at XOYO was last year for there New Years Eve party where Simian Mobile Disco were playing. Been to a couple things since, saw Simian again and Felix Da Housecat. All my times there have been amazing. They get such an impressive line-up of DJ's, the staff are always really friendly and every time I go I meet really cool people just there to have a good time and soak in the amazing music and vibes. I think its fast becoming the best club in London, massively up there for me.
My partner and I prepaid for our tickets online and were asked to bring ID and credit card for conformation for entry to Oxyo Club. We anticipated that there would be long queues to get into the venue. But we wer plesently surprised that there was no queue. The door staff where frienly and were even shown the smoking area by a one of the door staff. Cute! The music of Djs dropping deep house music was cool and vibe in the Oxyo club was relaxed friendly, people of all nationality and ages. The price of drums were reasonable. For a small rosa and bottle of water basically under £8. The club is dark inside, strobe lights most people just dancing to the deep bass of house music. The good thing about the night we went to Oxyo was an all day event, and its nice to arrive to a club in the day light and leave being able to get home by public transport. A good night and a highly recommended venue for lovers of under ground deep house music, on the days that house Djs are playing either in the evening or all day.
Always lineups are really good. Great atmosphere every time I've been and a cool crowd. Went to their day party too at The South Place Hotel and was an incredible party.
Love a good old party at XOYO. It looks and feels like an underground warehouse in New York or something, the line ups are always amazing on both floors and it's round the corner from me in Old St, perfect for an impromptu rave up! It's also really nice to go to a club that's hassle free getting in and getting served, compared to most other venues in London... indisputably my favourite club.
Love this club, I live super close, its got massive line ups and its my go to place. I went to one of their events XOYO Loves which was on Dalston Roof Park a few weeks back and was an awesome day party that led to a messy evening at XOYO. Definitely check it out!
I ve been there last saturday, when the party was over i tried to get my jacket from the wardrobe but they didn't have it anymore. In the jacket there were my keys and my id card,i went to the police and they told me i need a declaration from the club that they lost my id card but i tried to contact them several times, nothing to do . Just be careful guys,i hope they just lost it but my jacket was a 500 pounds jacket,i'm asking to my self: have they been "shopping" in that wardrobe?
I was at XOYO on friday night and it was amazing , it had a great vibe amazing dj's , great people and a lot of partying , I had a great night out , meet wonderful people.
I'm pretty excited to see the newly renovated XOYO at it's official opening tonight! I've always been a massive fan of the venue due to its unfailingly brilliant lineups and they're only getting better with the launch of their new night Spin Off. This place has a great vibe! The crowd has always been up for it whenever I've been. Thoroughly recommend this place to anyone with good taste in music following cutting edge artists.
Great venue! I would personally recommend this place to any of my friends: Amazing music and always a great ambiance. And let's not forget the gallery space with their exhibitions...
Great club, great music, great sound system! Always fun for club nights and so many good gigs as well!
Was there for The Let Them Eat Cake private view last Feb. Was incredibly packed. Impressed by what xoyo can provide and support emergent artists. Really looking forward for their forthcoming exhibitions and gigs. Besides, I was lucky to meet the hot curator, she's a doll.
I was really worried about going to this place after reading the reviews below, not really sure what they are all going on about, so felt compelled to put a review on here in case anyone else is put off. The doorman were in fact incredibly polite for doorman, this applied throughout the staff working there, there was no queues, in fact contrary to what some reviews say below i was actually too cold as the air con was on too much, even through the dance floor was packed. Its not the best club in the world to be honest, but its not awful either. but thought id put my thoughts on here seeing as it seemed to be so slagged off below! its just a standard club really! got served at the bar really quick too, always a bonus.
really am amazed by peoples comments on this venue, just saw a gig there and was very impressed. though it was slighty hot it was all forgivable just for the simple opportunity to be able to see a band in the intimate setting that xoyo can provide. staff were as you would expect at anywhere in london and the ambiance when the band started playing was great, would without doubt reccomend this venue to anyone looking for a way to connect with a band in a environment that is hard to come by
Worst door staff in the world. I was standing underneath an overhang down on the corner to get out of the rain to be told by the gold tooth gutless wonder door staff not to stand there as he grabs my arm to move me. I told him not to touch me. Then he told me he was going to kick my white ass down the street. I told him he would lose his door license. Then he told me he would get the police to remove me. I told him call the police, because I would have him arrested for assault and racist slurs. When he realized I was not going to back down from his thuggery he just made dumb comments and left.
Be careful when you go to this place. Super agressive bouncers, especially around clearing out time. Could easily get out of hand.
XOYO? Basically - it's awsome! Location wise it couldn't get any better - literally by Old Street tube - sweet! The variety of music being played is more vibrant and eclectic for both live and clubs than any other venue in London and it's always the first listing I check. Went and saw a gig the other day and the atmosphere was top. Drinks were not over priced - if you think so I don't know where you've been hanging out as it's the same as all over Shoreditch. To be fair I know the place has been seriously hot recently but the breeze was coming in steadily last week. Friendly staff and security even on a road block night I went to that had 2manydjs playing where a lesser venue would have had problems with the crowds. This is a great venue and will definitely keep it as one of my favourit places in London. Nuff said.
Only giving one star as not allowed to give it no stars. In all the years I have been going to gigs, this is probably the worst ever venue. Sound was awful. No air, ventilation system not working. Impossible to see the band. Loos disgusting with missing doors, blocked toilets. Bars too small. Over-priced. It was like being in a sauna listening to music on your next door neighbour's transistor radio. At least the staff are nice !
xoyo is officially the WORST place to go! The amount of arrogance at the doors is unbelievable! The bouncers run the show, thinking they know who is who, and let in only the ones they like. The club needs to review its door policy. The worst club I have ever been to! STAY AWAY! Horrible staff. Anyone who says this place is exclusive is kidding themselves. DONT SAY YOU WERENT WARNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic venue, I can't understand why it gets these negative reviews, fair enough it may have had some problems when it first opened, but I don't think your going to find a better venue in London that has a fantastic mix of live and clubbing events with the cities best promoters, been there several times and it's always been great! Seriously recommend XOYO to anybody who loves great music and atmosphere!
As a promoter, I looked into hiring this place for a gig (very high hire fee of £1000) and agree with negative reviews; great location, terrible everything else. Also, the soundsystem is awful, very low level sound levels. This place has some potential but at the moment it's just hype.
xoyo is in a great location, right by old street stationa nd close to shoreditch etc. however this is where the positives end. this is quite simply the worst club i have ever had the misfortune of visiting, it is so flawed it beggars belief! ive been there twice and both times it was wholly unpleasant for many reasons. the layout is beyond a joke, everything funnels into one narrow short corridor leading to chaos throughout the night. the smoking area accomodates approximately 25 people, this in a club with a capacity of 800! the soundsytem is poor (think the sort of sound you would get at a walkabout pub), the bars are pretty crap, and there is absolutely no decor at all. the 'lighting' stretches to a measly and pathetic looking 6 school disco style lights above the dj booth. i really cannot think of one good thing to say about this venue, i find it absolutely incredible how the team behind this venture could make such a hash of the project- hang your heads in shame.
XOYO great venue but needs work, enjoyed my night was really packed but the security and staff where helpful and polite you could see they handle the whole crowed situation very well i give the a hands up as its not there fault, the female security has been the best iv meet yet very stern and polite at the same time and dose her job well, shame about the smoking area would be nice if it was bigger. overall i'd go back.
