Who the hell is... Keaton Henson – Listen to Keaton Henson album and see him live in London

Let me guess: he’s a songwriter with an acoustic guitar and a broken heart.

On last year’s self-released debut, ‘Dear…’, Henson dissected every aspect of romantic rejection. It was raw and intimate, and sold 4,000 copies on word of mouth alone. Henson’s reluctance to be interviewed or even play live also helped. Who doesn’t love a guy who plays hard to get?

What’s his damage?

The 24-year-old suffers from debilitating panic attacks, and so thus far he’s only performed via webcasts. But on October 3 and 4 he’s facing the crowds at Kennington’s Cinema Museum.

Great. So I can see for myself what all the fuss is about?

Actually, those dates sold out in seven minutes, but if you can’t beg or blag your way in, his new EP ‘Sweetheart, What Have You Done to Us’ is out November 6.

Don’t worry – Henson’s heart is on the mend. He’s teamed up with members of Band Of Horses and The Raveonettes to add distorted but robust backing to his affecting angst.

Anything else I should know?

He’s also an accomplished illustrator. Earlier this year he published ‘Gloaming’, a graphic novel crammed with creepy characters from an alternate reality.
