We're usually first on the new talent scene but we've been beaten to it
this time. Twenty-one-year-old Brit-Schooler Tawiah – a Battersea
nu-soul girl with chops to put the post-Winehouse crowd to shame – has
already been heralded by those other big excavators of talent, Mark
Ronson and Gilles Peterson. On Thursday February 28 she got Time
Out's own seal of approval when she previewed her upcoming debut album
at our (free) On The Up showcase.
Main support came from Matthew Herbert protégé, Micachu, who did her
skittery, mad-as-a-hatter R&B thing for us before going off on tour
with Foals.
