Patchwork Pirates+The Beat! DJs+Poppaz-4-Life+Meat Raffle
When: 23:00 Fri Feb 6
Where: The Barfly, 49 Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8AN
Bish! Bosh! Bump! It’s another Time Out On the Up bash on February 6 and we’ve got such a smacker that you’ll want to re-enact the dance moves from ‘Teen Wolf’’s prom scene – and probably don a similar white suit. Fact.
With cheesy ’80s flicks firmly in mind, we’re delivering a righteous hip hop disco straight to your party gene after the Music team’s fine selection of live acts finish at 11pm. Representing the red ‘mean beats’ corner are the Patchwork Pirates trio, Tom McCarthy, Terence Teh and Alex Stevenson, who stamped their mark on London with their Thugs & Hugs nights and now play everywhere from Trouble Vision to FabricLive, as well as making mixtapes for cool West Coast label Delicious Vinyl. They’ll throw down an across-the-board hip hop set that leans on the old school but tears up the fresh and new too.
Upstairs takes a turn for the eclectic pop-to-indie-to-disco as Shoreditch electronic hotdoggers Meat Raffle and new players Poppaz-4-Life get busy. The former’s monthly parties at Catch are always rammed with rave chasers looking for hot new electro rock bands and impromptu moshing, while the latter duo splice together ‘Miami Vice’ smooth grooves and Michael Jackson ballads like no other.
And of course, our fabulous resident DJs, The Beat! will be kicking out all the forgotten gems you love. It’ll be, like, totally tubular.
Tickets to the later slot of On The Up (11pm-3am) will entitle you for entry to the earlier gig (8pm-11pm) should you wish to attend. More info here.
ALL TICKETS HAVE NOW BEEN ALLOCATED, SORRY.
Closing date: Fri Jan 30 2009
