The Barfly, 49 Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8AN

Escalating north London’s clubbing rep like an MP’s expense claim after a hefty moat-scooping session, Time Out On The Up once again turns Camden’s Barfly into a sweat-drenched den of inequity of the best kind. We can’t wait.

Electro-pop wizards Futurecop! top off the DJs downstairs as they bust open the synths from their glowing, treasure chest-like laptop. The duo, Peter and Manz, slap their own sublime tunes on to tunes from Phil Collins, Madonna and Kenny Loggins – and the result couldn’t be any more ’80s unless they huffed hits of powdered Jem dolls off Cameo’s musty codpiece. SXSW has had ’em, but London has yet to catch on.

Plumbing an altogether slinkier vein, sniTch DJs Lawson and Elaine have the benefit of musical geekery and technical derring-do on their side. They summon forth a body-hustling mix that sees tropical beats nuzzling post-punk and electro with a dash of nu-punk sprinkled in for good measure. Having bonded over their love of glow-in-the-dark vinyl, the twosome hit OTU fresh from playing out with the likes of Dead Kids. Elsewhere, Manchester’s first lady of bass, Natalie Esquire, will be bringing it clubbed up and thugged out, rinsing glitched-up hip hop classics interspersed with murky grime and dupstep, Barfly-shaking bass and knockout Haçienda moments, all from underneath a skyward New Era lid. Rounded out by resident party ignition team The Beat!, trust us: this could only be more awesome if the PA was made from unicorns.
