Ida Haendel, one of the most prolific and influential violinists of our time, joins BBC Radio 3 presenter Rob Cowan in a special evening of music and conversation.
Haendel’s seductive style has captivated audiences for decades, and she shows no sign of slowing down. During the evening, Rob Cowan and Ida Haendel discuss her illustrious career, followed by a programme designed to showcase her legendary style with some of her favourite repertoire, including works by her late teacher, Enescu.
(This event is the finale of a week of celebrations of Ida Haendel’s music, which includes a masterclass at the Royal College of Music.)

This unnecessary exposure of a once brilliant artiste was not only disapponting but also obviously left quite a few people very much on their back feet as to making any honest comments. The less than half filled hall spoke for itself. In addition, the over-enthusiastic presentation by Mr Cowan added to the feeling of all-round embarrassment.
