Ariadne Auf Naxos

Richard Strauss's opera looks at the role of art in society. Here it's staged by Christof Loy in this production which was first staged in 2002. Antonio Pappano returns to head up musical direction to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth. Finnish soprano Karita Mattila stars as Prima Donna/Ariadne for the first time and is joined by Canadian soprano Jane Archibald.
