Time Out says

Natalie Abrahami directs a new family opera, commissioned for the Royal Opera from composer Julian Philips and librettist Edward Kemp, based on Ted Hughes's well-loved story collection 'The Dreamfighter and Other Creation Tales'.

'How the Whale Became' explores how the world, and the creatures in it, came into being. The cast includes James McOran-Campbell, Fflur Wyn, Njabulo Madlala, Donna Lennard and Andrew Dickinson. All perform a number of roles, including a Cat, a Polar Bear, a Peacock, a Whale, a Elephant and a Frog.
