Last Night of the Proms 2012

The violinist Nicola Benedetti and tenor Joseph Calleja join the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Symphony Chorus for this musical party. Mark Simpson's 'sparks' (BBC Commission, World Premiere); Suk's 'Towards a New Life'; Delius's Songs of Farewell; Verdi's 'Un ballo in maschera' – 'Forse la soglia attinse...Ma se m'è forza perderti'; Massenet's 'Werther' – 'Pourquoi me réveillier?'; Bruch's Violin Concerto No 1 in G minor; Puccini's 'Tosca' – 'E lucevan le stelle'; Puccini's 'Turandot' – 'Nessun dorma'; John Williams's Olympic Fanfare and Theme; Dvorák's Overture 'Carnival'; Shostakovich's 'The Gadfly' – 'Romance'; Brodszky's 'The Toast of New Orleans' – 'Be my love'; Lara's 'Granada'; Rodgers's 'Carousel' – 'You'll never walk alone'; Wood's Fantasia on British Sea-Songs; Elgar's 'Pomp and Circumstance' March no 1 in D ('Land of Hope and Glory'); Parry's 'Jerusalem' (orch Elgar); and the National Anthem (traditional). Jirí Belohlávek conducts his last Prom as Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
