A spin-off from the yachtwear shop next door, Chucs is pitched at Mayfair's ultra-wealthy residents, who will happily spend £165 on a pair of lilac men’s swimshorts, or £150 on a women's long-sleeved t-shirt. The interior continues the yacht theme with staff wearing nautical uniforms, right down to gold-braided epaulettes, while photographs of the picturesque port of Positano and other gilded holiday destinations adorn the walls.
Mayfair isn’t the place to come looking for a bargain meal of course, and Chucs is no exception, with an Italian and continental menu where a starter of grilled vegetables costs £15, or a main course of octopus salad weighs in at £29. But there was no faulting our dishes: the Italian staff in the kitchen turned out a fine seafood tagliolini, studded with baby clams, tender octopus and freshly-made pasta. A small side of caponata (£5) was also exemplary, the aubergine correctly soused with sweet and sour notes; but the the £4-a-head cover charge (for bread and radishes) an irritation.
Chucs is a likeable place, but given the size of our bill we had hoped for more efficient service; on our visit, the staff seemed to be barely coping with a not particularly busy lunch service.
Chucs Restaurant & Café is the sister concept to the inspired 1950s swimwear and men’s fashion label of the same name, situated next door. A classic Italian on Dover Street, Chucs is an intimate, all-day restaurant with traditional, Italian décor and the highest service standards. The restaurant also boasts an outside terrace, perfect for enjoying a summer aperitivo or leisurely Italian coffee.

In a perfect location, very cosy and friendly. Perfect for tea/coffee and an easy meal, from salmon salad to great antipasti. Size does not matter in this little gem.
A bijoux restaurant tucked away in Mayfair this really is a hidden gem. The decor is just as carefully considered as the Italian inspired menu. A fantastic place for an intimate tête-à-tête.
We stumbled across Chucs by chance after the cinema one night when looking for something to eat and what a lovely surprise! The restaurant was busy but not noisy and the staff immediately made us feel very welcome. The sublime chicken paillard was absolutely delicious and my husbands steak was cooked to perfection served with crisp chips. All the ingredients seemed fresh and the staff were lovely and very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant!
This is a hidden gem! I have been for lunch and breakfast and on both occasions the food was delicious (I particularly liked the healthier options for breakfast) and the service was excellent. I am looking forward to returning and sitting outside now that the summer is finally here. The decor is also very elegant. It is slightly on the smaller side but but that gives it an intimate cosy feel, and it would be a great date spot. Thank you Chucs look forward to seeing you again soon!
I loved Chucs B&G! Having been a fan of the swimwear for the past couple of years, I was so excited once they announced they were launching a new restaurant to open, and it hasn't disappointed. The food is exceptional and the interior is stylish, and reminds me of those halcyon days in Portofino.
