It’s hard to miss the blinding orange interior of this, one of few family-friendly eating options along Broadway Market. Middle Eastern musical instruments, hookahs and light fixtures sculpted from gourds deck the walls, while summer sees the conservatory opening on to the rear verandah for alfresco dining away from the relentless hubbub of Saturday traders. The Mediterranean menu doesn’t stray far from its Turkish roots: a hot meze starter combined the familiar trio of falafel, houmous and tsatsiki with chunks of juicy halloumi and delectably light mücver (courgette and feta fritters). Tender grilled meats and stuffed aubergines made for simple but satisfying main courses, and the restaurant’s friendly, unpretentious vibe was bolstered by its relaxed and efficient staff.
