  • Over priced, little food. The Sunday "lamb" roast, was over cooked and no meat, only the skin, two little potatoes, a few pieces of carrots, all over cooked, I could not eat it. My husband and daughter had the lemon sole which was over cooked, the only vegetable accompanying it was over cooked green beans and very little of it. Terrible service, never going back there again.

  • Must agree with the number of reviews that say this is overpriced and also over confident on what it delivers. The menu is limited and some dishes do not work. The Salmon teriyaki with nicoise salad must have been what Erik Erikson based his findings on when he termed the phrase 'identity crisis' The music piping in was too loud and too inappropriate, a mix of big band and swing, it complimented neither ambience, nor ear drum Its average at best

  • Consistently disappointing. The Clissold Arms should have all the right ingredients for a great night out, but always seems to fall short. Tried now on 4 separate occasions! Without doubt it's a great location and atmosphere, but my advice would be to pop in for a drink and eat up the road in the Bald Faced Stag. The food is mediocre at best, despite a tempting menu. But quality of food and prices charged sadly do not match in any way. Twice we've had to send food back.... In 4 visits that's not a great average.

  • Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning with massive signs outside saying breakfast until 12, we walked towards a table-(all empty) and was told in a care less fashion no breakfast today they had a big event in the evenng so the chef cancelled breakfast-asked for the manager and he was less interested than the first waitress we spoke to-management clearly full of their self importance and don't give a stuff about their customers-i eat out almost every morning with friends so this has cost them many thousands in my revenue alone-DONT WASTE YOUR TIME-theres much better places in east finchley and muswell hill who care about their clients!

  • Overpriced and not as good as it thinks it is. Rather mean portion sizes make you wonder if there's a cost cutting drive on in the kitchen - it may be the accountant rather than the chef has the most influence, which is bad news. Had the steak which was OK, no more. But with Hawksmoor (and others) on the scene, charging this much for pretty average meat doesn't cut it. Overall, it just seems a bit complacent, lazy and greedy. Probably because it has got a captive local market it doesn't feel it needs to raise its game. The Eagle and the Peasant are just two examples of places which do it much, much better and are only a 15 minute cab away. To improve it needs a lot more generosity, and a bit more adventure.

  • The Clissold Arms managed by MIchael Collins did our late Irish Mother proud!! Providing a first class Buffet style meal for the Wake following her funeral in June 2011. The Venu - tent style extension with a courtyard garden, the service, and most importantly the food was tip top and we will be back for more.....
