I agree with Jeff, the review is harsh. this is a neighbourhood joint and a good addition at that. It's friendly and not up itself and the food is lovely.

Fans of London’s Argentinian restaurants may already have encountered Gaston Carrano, when he worked at Buen Ayre in Hackney, and – more recently – as manager of Santa Maria del Sur in Battersea.
Here he is again, meeting and greeting, fronting yet another Argentinian steak house, this time in the mostly residential area between Dalston and Islington.
The Argentinian steak house is a relatively simple formula, monotonous, even. So the owner of De La Panza, George Rockett, has differentiated it by adding a few more of the Spanish and Italian heritage dishes that you find in Argentina, on both the tapas and restaurant menu.
Our piquillo peppers were stuffed with a runny mush of salt cod and bechamel, a very disappointing main course for £15. Rather better were the spiced beef empanadas, even if they arrived from the kitchen with startling speed.
Escabeche of mackerel was the best dish, the fish fresh and the marinade not too acidic. Our ‘bife ancho’ – 300g/10oz of rib-eye steak – would have been better if we had ordered it medium rare instead of rare, as it arrived heavily striated with inedibly uncooked fat.
De La Panza looks charming, with lots of high stools, bar counters, with a rustic, tavern-like look that evokes Argentina. The wine list is brief, but the wines by the glass – especially the Zuccardi malbec – are good.
With its casual neighbourhood feel, tightly packed tables and surprisingly high prices, De La Panza works better as a wine bar than as a destination steak house.

Fantastic steaks, empanadas and the best garlic mushrooms I ever had and some bloody good wine. The atmosphere is great too, particularly on the recent Opera Night... we love it!
Friendly, high quality and consistently good steaks... Review seems very harsh, so give it a go if you're in the area. We have been many times, and never disappointed.
I have visited De La Panza 4 times now and have loved it each time. I've taken my children who have also enjoyed the food and I find the service from the staff perfect. They are available if you want them, but do not hover over you. A really lovely touch during our most recent visit was a surprise birthday cake for a member of our party. The lights suddenly went low and the whole restaurant joined in with singing happy birthday. The food is delicious and we will be going back time and time again.
My husband and I went here for the first time on Saturday and had read the mixed reviews beforehand. We thought it was great, the staff were friendly and made great Malbec recommendations. Not overly attentive, but I like that and the food was great. I had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection, and an enormous portion. What a great asset to the area, we will definitely become regulars and will recommend to all our local friends as we need this place to flourish. Well done. Loved it.
I was disappointed with this place. As a local, I was very much looking forward to a new restaurant. Although it's pricey it's not outrageous. The problem for me is the atmosphere, it's so uninviting, dark wood and only overhead lights. The staff make little effort to engage with you, leaving you thinking, if you're not bothering, why should it? We are ready for an Argentinian restaurant in the neighbourhood, just not this one.
Last night I took my mum and dad out for a birthday meal, can i just say this has got to be THE best steak I have had outside of Argentina - I'll definetly be going back for more!!
Excelent. We went last night for second time. My husband loves charcoal grilled steak, so he's more than happy that De La Panza moved round the corner to us. I tried the charcoal grill sea bass and it was amazing. The chips with it were the best that I had in a long time. Next time I'll go for the andean stew that i heard that is amazing. Really well priced wines and amazing service and music!
I had a really great meal surrounded by a lively, friendly atmosphere. We started with the scrumptious cheese and onion empanadas and chorizos a la sidra. We wine was good and relatively inexpensive. For the main course we had milanesa and a large steak, which was very delicious, cooked exactly as we asked for. The dessert we shared was the pancake with dulce de leche -fabulous! The staff are young but enthusiastic - a really good eating experience!
Having eagerly anticipated the arrival of this restaurant I was utterly disappointed! The service was all over the place - to the extent that the waitress didn't know which empanda was which when they arrived and our table of four all had to guess! The steak was overpriced and over-cooked and accomapanied by a salad that consisted of iceburg lettuce and raw white onion plus dry, oven chips. To top it all off the lighting was horribly bright and killed the atmosphere. As a local I am dying to love this restaurant, but it failed at every hurdle - it didn't even seem like they were trying! I can't believe the owner also started the stunning Buen Ayre and Santa Maria Del Sur!! Please take a leaf out of their books - local people are dying for you to be a success, but you really need to try a bit harder. Come on De La Panza - sort it out!
This restaurant is poor, poor, poor! The food is over priced, the steak was tough as old boots, I doubt it is Argentine steak!!! This area has money and is crying out for a good restaurant but this restaurant is empty almost evey night. Compared to the pubs in the area the food is dreadful, over priced and the restaurants has an awful ambience. Give it a miss!!!
