Dining Room at the Playboy Club

A casino with waitresses who are Playboy Bunnies might not be the first place you’d think of looking for a good meal. But as part of the package, the Playboy Club made the very astute move of hiring Judy Joo as the executive chef of its Dining Room. Joo (pictured above) is a confident, high-profile and extremely talented cook-turned-chef who is also one of contestants in the Iron Chef UK.
This is, however, a restaurant that plays second fiddle to the gaming rooms and the bar – which are for members only. In a recent move, however, the Dining Room has now opened up the public.
The menu can be described as ‘Modern American’. Most starters cost around the £10-£15 mark, main courses typically £20-£40 excluding side dishes, and desserts £10-15.
Alongside classic dishes such as shrimp cocktail, steaks, caesar salad and chocolate brownies are some Korean touches from the Korean-American chef, such as bo ssam buns (Korean-style marinated pork belly in steamed buns) and bulgogi tacos (Asian-style tacos with marinated beef and kimchee).
The express lunch option (Monday-Friday) guarantees two courses within 45 minutes. Take note that credit card details are taken and a rising scale of fees (starting at £50 and going up) are charged if cancellations are made within 24 hours of the booking.
