This tiny takeaway kitchen (just a couple of counter seats) serves pizza plus a few Sardinian specialities – spaghetti bottarga (mullet roe), crespelle Due Sardi (ricotta and spinach pancakes) – to the barflies of the cool, dressed-down bar next door, Dreambagsjaguarshoes, between noon and 10pm.

Slightly sour, chewy dough provides great contrast to intensely tomatoey passata in the margherita, and we were pleased to taste the finely chopped basil before we saw it– a scatter of whole leaves on top may look fresh and fancy, but they don’t always combine properly with the flavours beneath.

On an otherwise excellent signature Due Sardi pizza, the passata was rather lost behind fine Sardinian sausage and pecorino, and the scatter of onion circles on top was a little ugly. Good, then, but not refined.

At first I was really excited about this place. For me, it was the Pizza place in the neighbourhood. But quality is not there anymore. Dough is tasteless and chewy, not slightly burnt as it is supposed to be. Also, the Mozarella cheese is of dubious quality. I live around the corner and sometimes order delivery from Due Sardi. This has also gone downhill. Pizza always arrives stone-cold, not stone-baked. It could be a lovely joint, but has become much too laissez-faire. For a greasy grub at night after drinking it is still better than Dominos or Papa John's. But it is not a good pizza. If you want a good Pizza to eat out in the area, go to Pizza East. For delivery, there are plenty of better options around as well.
