This large corner site is light-filled from two sides, making an attractive day-time café, despite the slightly out-of-the-way location. The daily special is reliably good if you don't feel like the standard tortillas or tacos (all delicious); on our last visit it was a chicken and tomato bake topped with a heartening cheese crust and served in a warm clay pot. Other dishes include an earthy lentil soup and wafer-thin steak sandwiches.
We've noticed, over the course of many visits, that the service from the Latin American staff is frequently slow and disinterested, but this isn't a problem as long as you're not in a hurry. Wine is served in tumblers, most of the tables are communal, and on Saturday nights – the only evening they are open – it's a fun scene.
