4 Love It
Tricia de Courcy Ling
Chef-proprietor Imran Bashir set up this Pakistani café in Brixton Village Market during the summer 2011. From a tiny kitchen a very concise menu is served: own-made samosas, curries, three types of thali (minced lamb, chicken or vegetable). The dishes are home-style, and the thalis served on a segmented stainless steel plate, in the subcontinental way. The dahl is rich and thick, the keema (mince) delicately spiced and with just the right amount of ghee, the raita creamy. Our only disappointment was the round naan breads – these are bought in, not fresh from an oven, but then they are complimentary. The masala chai is exemplary, and the prices for all dishes very low.

Don't expect an overcrowded restaurant with millions of people queuing outside, the place has only got 4 tables (literally!). Food gets served quick and it is super tasty! Go for the Lamb Keema, it includes a combination of Lamb with spices, daal, salad, raita, rice and it also comes with naan bread, all for 6.95GBP!. The mango lassi, which is made at the moment and comes in a cute old jar, is excellent and a perfect pairing to the meal.  A little trick, ask the nice waiter to change the salad on our Thalis plate for vegetables from the vegetarian dish, it will make your dish perfect!

very yummy food. it's not fancy, but thats the charm within Brixton Village, although there is no reservation, but the wait is not long, also BYO as well.

The daal was fantastic, the best I've ever had, the chicken curry was fine, but not brilliant, the chai was very good once sweetened, the lassi was OK, the naan i thought quite good, and the pakora were fine. A slightly mixed bag, but i'd definitely go back for the daal and the chai. Good atmosphere, and very good prices. Bring a jumper though.

amazing food, great service and really reasonable prices, and bring your own, really do love this place and will definitely go there regularly.
