• London's best food trucks

  • A fleet of mobile traders are raising the bar for street food. Being mobile, they can be hard to locate, but check out their websites and Twitter feeds for their locations

    • Choc Star Van

      www.chocstarblog.blogspot.com or Twitter: @chocstarvan

Petra Barran recently set up www.eat.st to help foster the growing community of mobile traders. Her Choc Star van has been gratifying chocaholics since she first set out on the road in 2006. She serves familiar treats made with quality chocolate, and we can vouch for the fudge brownies, milkshakes and ice-cream.

    • La Grotta Ices

      www.lagrottaices.tumblr.com or email kitty@lagrottaices.com

Her original van was recently nicked, but that hasn’t stopped Kitty taking to the road with her fruity ices and scooping up the award for ‘Best Dessert’ and general ‘Best of the Best’ at the recent British Street Food Awards. We ate our way through each of her granitas: watermelon, strawberry, mouth-puckering damson and a delectable grape, served with whipped cream, candied quince or caramelised cobnuts.

    • Crêperie Nicholas

      www.creperie-nicolas.com

This beautifully restored 1965 Citröen van currently visits London for the Soho Foodlovers market in Rupert Street on Saturdays. Husband and wife team Keith and Gill layer authentic Breton crêpes and gluten-free buckwheat galettes, with fillings of a higher standard than usual.

    • Daddy Donkey

Pitches 100-101, Leather Lane Market, EC1N (www.daddydonkey.co.uk or Twitter: @daddydonkey)

Burrito means ‘little donkey’ in Spanish, but these wraps are anything but little and neither are the lunchtime queues to get them. Our favourite is tender carnitas with extra guacamole.

    • Souper Stew

      www.souperstew.co.uk orTwitter: @souperstew

Londoners James and Giles simmer up comforting and healthy concoctions from their van and a stall. Try their sausage, bean and bacon breakfast stew.

The Spice Shack in Park Royal, Ealing. Is a must! Cooked fresh just for you...its certainly makes a change to your usual mobile catering!

This has missed the wonderful set of trucks and stalls that are in Goulston Street (Petticoat Lane) every weekday.
