Hotels with cinemas
Several of London’s leading hotels have their own small and luxurious cinemas which show arthouse films – and they sell combination tickets for meal-and-movie in their equally plush hotel dining rooms. It’s a winning combination if you don’t want the hassle of wondering when exactly the film starts, and knowing that you’re not going to miss your dinner booking.
One Aldwych
One Aldwych, a smart design hotel conveniently located between Covent Garden and the South Bank, screens classic films as well as Hollywood blockbusters in its 30-seater cinema.

| Axis at One Aldwych |
Axis at One Aldwych weekend dinner
The ‘Movies on the Menu’ deal, which costs £38.50 per person (including service), is available every Friday and Saturday night, making it an ideal end-of-week relaxer. The price includes glass of champagne, a three-course Modern British dinner, and a film in the cinema – and Axis will provide the popcorn. The dinner menu changes every two weeks, but a typical meal might be potted roast duck with pickled plum and toast, neck of pork with roast potato roll, and chocolate and caramel millefeuille. Dinner is served between 6.30pm and 8pm; the movie screenings start at 8.30pm. The deal can also be booked for private parties (£48.50 per person, minimum 20 guests, maximum 30), and you supply the film of your choice.
Indigo Sunday brunch
Indigo is more casual place to eat at One Aldwych (Axis being the much smarter option). For £38.50 per person (including service) you can sit back with a delicious brunch and a Sunday afternoon movie in the plush cinema. Indigo’s menu errs towards rustic comforts: pea and ham soup, corned beef hash with a fried egg, mushrooms on toast, or duck eggs benedict. Food is served 12.30pm-2.15pm; screenings start at 2.30pm. Wash it all down with a bellini – just peachy.
