  • Cheap buffets in London

  • By Time Out Food & Drink editors

  • A staple feature of many cities' eating habits, the buffet hasn't really caught on in foggy London, but that may be changing. Here are some super spreads

  • Indian | Chinese | Italian | Korean | Vietnamese | Thai & Malaysian | Mexican African & Caribbean | Lunch | Buffets | Comfort | Romantic | Award winners

    • Kitchin N1

      Kitchin N1, 8 Caledonia St, N1 9AA

Modern decor, tap lagers and stainless-steel food-warmers give this buffet restaurant something of a business hotel vibe. Pay a set price (£6.95 lunch, £12.95 dinner, £9.95 pre-7pm dinner, £5.95 children) and you can fill up as many times as you like with the Indian, Thai, Chinese and Italian dishes on the central food servery and salad bar. Of the various ones we sampled, it was the Indian recipes that shone. Wines start at £11.95 a bottle, cocktails are £5.50 and there’s a range of shooters at £3.95. Meal for two with drinks: around £35.

    • Kusinang Munti

      Kusinang Munti, 913 Garratt Lane, SW17 0LT

The Philippines’ three centuries of colonial domination have left an intriguing Spanish-Mexican influence on the cuisine offered at the all-you-can-eat buffet here. Costing just £5.50 at lunch and £6.50 at dinner, it features dishes such as pork or chicken adobo (stewed in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and peppercorns), satays, lumpiang (similar to spring rolls) and dinuguan (which includes meat, offal and black pudding). All-you-can-eat meal for two with service: around £15.

    • Tibits

Southern Terrace, Westfield London, Ariel Way, Shepherd's Bush, W12 7SL

This vegetarian pay-by-weight cafe is notches above your usual all-you-can-eat gaff. Asian, Mediterranean and Indian spices and ingredients are used to great effect. Meal for two with wine and service: around £35 (£1.40 per 100g for lunch and dinner; £1.20 per 100g for breakfast). Read more

I have been to Kitchin a few times recently. The reason I went there was to meet a friend for lunch close to where we both work. I really enjoyed the food, the service was simple and the staff were polite. I have been back a few times and the service and the food is the same. I mentioned a dish looking like it had been out too long to a member of staff and they dealt with it by informing the chef and then came to get me when a fresh lot had been made.
The main thing I want to point out about Kitchin is that my colleague is sitting at his desk every day with a cold sandwich and some crisps for about £5. For an extra £ or so Kitchin serves a a wide range of hot Asian cusine and I get away from the office! With it being a buffet you can take as much time as you like with no fear of your food not being done in time!
