Time Out has been touting the Popeseye in W14 for years as one of the areas great steak places. I've lived in the area for 5 years now and must say that I don't rate it as highly as I rate the steak at the Havelock Tavern about 400m around the corner.
Sure the Popeseye has a wider selection - the Havelock does one kind of steak (bavette steak with salad and chips) versus the Popeseye's range of cuts and sizes, but on all the points that matter to me;
* Taste
* Value
* Ambience
The Havelock wins hands down. In addition, their fries are perfect, fresh and crisp and the fresh bread they serve with all meals is worth a visit in its own right.
