This Hoxton restaurant comes from the Jamie Oliver stable. Since 2002 it has followed an admirable not-for-profit ethos, giving disadvantaged young people an apprenticeship in the culinary arts. They recruit 18 people every year, giving them tools to become professional chefs.
On our visits, the quality of the food has been high. Dishes range from starters of quail with corn, pickled girolles and coriander, and Dorset crab with courgette, dill, crème fraîche and almonds to mains of guinea fowl with burnt celeriac, smoked bone marrow, baby leek and girolles, and iberico pork shoulder with wild mushroom, leek and smoked walnut. Desserts include a coconut panna cotta with roasted pineapple and coconut crumble.
Cocktails feature on the drinks list, with options including a rose gimlet (Beefeater gin served with a house-made yuzu and rose water cordial), and a calavera (mezcal, Lillet Blanc, orange liqueur, lime and absinthe). The wine list leans on the old world, and 13 are available by the glass.

First time eating at Fifteen, but definitely worth revisiting. The food was amazing and the staff were polite and attentive. The place was full, so they couldn't change the table where we where despite of it being uneven, they made every effort to arrange that and take care of us. Overall it was a really good experience that I hope repeats again

Guinea fowl to die for! Service was excellent and so was the atmosphere. Try their gin & tonic; today was with cucumber peel, and it hit the spot. Good a-la-carte menu and menu degustation too if you are hungry. Open kitchen so you can see the activity, the artisan work in every dish. It was my first time but it won't be the last.
Felt so disappointed with the food and the service. Firstly decor was dark and look old, our table was right next to the disabled toilet which I requested to change in case someone needs to use it. The waitress thought I was annoying (by the way she talks to me) Then the food was no good, the salty beef was ridiculous, not even sure what the chef was thinking, half braised and was over cooked. Then the air con broke and we asked the waiter but he told us off and said that he and many kitchen staff people would feel alot hotter than us. I did not want to say further but will voice my disappointment until I am writing the review. They were so understaff and 2 staff literally covered all 13 tables upstairs. Ridiculous. Anyway won't go again.
The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and most of the staff were friendly (not all). The cocktails were fantastic. We were given a good table as there were 3 of us but most tables were very squashed together. The bread came first and it was really good! From then on we were a little speechless! I can only say not what you would expect from Jamie Oliver. Food was bland and quite small portions. Some of it was overlooked. The toilets are downstairs which to get to you have to fight through tables and staff to find a flooded, dirty ,untidy small bathroom (terrible!). We cook from his books all the time but we would never go back to Fifteen!
OMG what a shambles! 15 of us for dinner: 45 mins for starter and 1hr wait or main! We ordered chicken rotisserie with broccoli and they served 2 x chickens with a sprig of broccoli on a serve yourself plate between 15 of us. No side dishes,vegetables, potato or sauce! They basically roasted a chicken and left it in the middle of the table! I am sorry but what culinary expertise does it take to turn on an oven and roast a chicken? £38 per head for the privilege! They all should be ashamed of themselves.
We were given a 6 course taster menu for 2 at Fifteen as a gift. We were greeted in a very polite and friendly manner and shown to our table. The décor and ambiance gave us a great first impression. The menu for this experience appeared limited at first but the dishes were in fact innovative, fresh and well presented. We were given a selection of rustic breads, followed by 4 shared starters. Delicious and efficiently delivered. These were followed by the shared roast chicken for 2. This was a triumph of simplicity. Absolutely delicious whole chicken (enough for at least 3 or 4 people) with a tarragon sauce and braised veg. Already feeling very full this was followed by a desert each, which was equally delightful! The wine selection was varied and well priced. The staff could not have been more efficient. This would not normally be a 'cheap night out' but after our experience we would have no hesitation in recommending Jamie's Fifteen. Well done Jamie and the team!
I thought I give the restaurant a second chance, went there in a hot summer day. OMG, they don't have air conditioning in the restaurant, consider it to be a well known place, how can they not have it? Even my local chinese restaurant have air-cond. We were all sweating and using their menu as fan, all the staffs were boiling hot, you can see their faces are totally red and wet. Thinking about it, is it hygienic though? I can't remember a thing about the taste of food, it probably was my worst dining experience. My first time there wasn't good either. The only plus side is, the staffs are very friendly and helpful. But we all pity them, we just don't know how the staffs can work in such a hot condition.
Well I should have read the comments before going to this restaurant. Worst dining experience in 5 years of living in London. Insanely salted pork which we had to send back. Empty tough salad leaves. Nicely seasoned chard. Very very small doses for nothing special ingredients.
SO DISAPPOINTED! had high expectations because of brand profile but, despite phoning and checking in advance that they could cater for a vegan, the food was incredibly dull (their idea of a vegan starter being to remove the meat and cheese from plate of vegetables) and the serving staff simply shrugged when confronted. Even the standard menu items (I had the lamb) were redolent of school dinners, just with more blood. There was a 15 minute wait between my dessert (cheese) and my vegan friends dessert (sorbet) being served and the bill was £120 for 2. Won't go back
Carpaccio and antipasti was good as were the cocktails. Wine was lovely recommended by Sommelier who was very good. However went downhill from then. Waitress was edging on being rude and pasta and desert was nothing special at all. Wouldn't recommend it.
I can only agree with Reena, as I've been put in a similar situation. I had my mother and sister visiting, and I tried Fifteen as I was curious about Jamie Oliver cuisine. Maybe it's beacuse I am Italian, maybe it's because I've been living in New York where good restaurants are consistent in delivering good food and service. But when you spend the name of Jamie Oliver and you charge 120£ for 1 shared antipasti, 3 tiny main courses and 2 glasses of wine I expect quality. Quality was not in sight last night. The antipasti- 1 tiny platte that had more preserved peppers than charcuterie- was bland. I can buy better things at Marks & Spencer. I suspect that's where it came from, only the purchase was probably made a week ago. The bread was sloppy. Oh, and it came as a separate dish. I mean, in theory they serve charcuterie without bread, which is unheard of in Italy. Or anywhere else. Then main couses: they all have the same preserved peppers.I suspect they ran out of vegetables in the kitchen so they profusely used what was left. My plate had 4 scallops and tons of pepper, and so had my sister's lamb. We eyed dessert at the next table, and they looked like the ones that in Italy are served in pizzeria- with all respect to Italian pizzerias, only dessert is not their strong point. So we avoid ordering them. Then you get the check and they authomatically charge you 12.5% for service without asking wether you are happy or not. I mean, at least in NY you can choose... I move to London from NY a couple of months ago, and found the restaurant scene a bit inconsistent. But when you lure people in with a famous name you have the respnsabily not to rip them off with average food at expensive prices. I paid the same money for Moro, and boys that is another story, great food and service there... Just a recommendation for nest time!
Dear Fifteen/Jamie Oliver, I went to your restaurant on Saturday night with my parents and boyfriend. This was a very important meal, as my parents had come for a short visit to London for the first time, from my small home town and I wanted to show them an impressive London restaurant. I have been to Barbecoa before, so I thought Fifteen would also be a great place to go. I was very, very wrong and extremely disappointed. Here's why: 1. Sitting: We were sat in a booth between 2 closet doors (one with a pin code entry device on it) and could barely hear each other due to the shouting in the kitchen right behind us. 2. Appetizer: -When asked if one order of bruschetta could feed 4 of us, our waitress said yes but the serving was so tiny and not enough. She said the complimentary bread would add to our appetizer to be enough, but it came out with a bowl of JUST oil, no vinaigrette. 3. The Mains: - 2 of us had the lamb, which was very tiny and looked uninspiring. My dad pretended to like it, but I tried his and know he was just being nice. - I had the gnocchi, which looked like vomit on a plate - My mom had the wild mushroom risotto and it was blander than anything I've had in a while. She said "I don't think these people know anything about pasta"; then reading that Fifteen makes fresh pasta every morning made for great disappointment. 4. Dessert: - Was actually good! The only part of the evening that I enjoyed. My parents were very nice about the whole evening, but I know if they were back in my home town of Edmonton, Canada, they would have complained. To add insult to injury, the bill was probably higher than they've ever seen before and I just felt awful about the whole night. Jamie, I don't know what's happened to Fifteen- I know you're busy with so many other projects, but I really feel you have let this one fall by the wayside. Thank you for your time. Without doubt the worst place i've been to ever! One main dish just tasted completly burnt. Others had no taste to them what so ever. Manager very casual in the apologies by leaning against a wall and explaining that the chef may have been making the dish so often today that he got bored! Yes the manager actually justified the bad food by saying the chef might of got bored! To top off the evening I even had to catch a glipse of the state of the kitchen... I won't go into to much detail, all you need to know, it was bad!!! The only good thing about this place was the waiter. Even he looked embarrassed by the standards of everything else.
Wow, went yesterday in a party of 9. Without doubt the worst dining experience I have ever had the misfortune to experience. DO NOT GO!
Contrary to the comments from other reviewers, we enjoyed an excellent lunch in the restaurant downstairs. The service was the best we have had anywhere. It was meant to be a special occasion and did not disappoint. Good luck to the enterprise!
And they did it again! There were the same disappointments as mentioned from AussieTraveller. Service: unfriendly and unprofessional. Plates were given to the opposite site of the table, and taken away only after we asked for that – twice! Meal were absolutely not worth the money and definitely not worth the time to get there. Again: as they do take even more money as other restaurants, I get even more critical. But in this case this was not necessary. Expecting “Pub foot” only would have left us with disappointment. What worries me is that they had already feedback half a year ago and nothing changed. I will not find out if they might change it in the future as I will never visit this restaurant again.
