On a cold November evening decided to try out restaurant recommended by colleagues at work. My friends and i were impressed by the service from the start. Waiters were friendly, polite and attentive but not pushy- we were given ample time to reflect on choices. We had to wait a while for the main courses but it was apparent why the moment they arrived. The quality of the food was excellent- it was freshly prepared and visually attractive- no re-heating in this restaurant! The meal was also very good value for money. The icing on the cake was that myslef and my female friend were each presented with a rose each when we left! We will most certainly return.

Located slightly off the beaten track in Walthamstow, Forest Tandoori takes a refreshingly modern approach to Indian cuisine. Just five minutes walk from Wood Street train station and surrounded by busy pubs, it attracts a fair amount of passing trade but still remains something of a hidden gem. The smart wooden floors and clean white linen make for a calm and contemporary interior – perfect for intimate dinners, business lunches and family gatherings. The extensive menu includes all the familiar favourites you would expect, alongside Forest specials like Murgh Badami – chicken in ginger and garlic paste with saffron and almonds – and Karaki Lamb, cooked with the Chef’s secret recipe. For lunch, thali meals offer a light and delicious way of trying out several different dishes.
