The mix of polystyrene ceiling tiles and spearmint walls decked with posters of Krishna might not make it into World of Interiors, but this homely local’s vegetarian cuisine remains a big draw – and there’s plenty of it. Despite heeding advice that we were ordering too much, we were still filled up by our starter of patra (alvi leaves rolled in batter, sliced and served with tamarind sauce). Then came a special thali for two, with bhajis, tarka dhal, rice, chapatis and a choice of two curries (chickpea curry was rich and mildly spicy, spinach panir a little watery). The fact that the ice-cream was nothing to write home about was rather academic: we couldn’t have eaten more if we’d wanted to.
