An absolutely fantastic restaurant, the food is delicious and the owners have a great passion about the food that they serve. Overall a great restaurant if you are looking for somewhere with a great atmosphere and beautiful hearty food. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!!

Went here for a meal with friends and had a great time. The food is fantastic - lots of choices, well priced and all very fresh and tasty. The staff were really welcoming, and the ambience of the restaurant is friendly and informal. Can't recommend it enough!

If you are looking for authenticity and great food, this is the place! really welcoming and the food is superb, fresh and original. I would recommend it to everyone. And it's bring your own! Perfect for a date or among friends. LOVE IT!

Fabulous neighbourhood restaurant with charm and great food. A BYO is very hard to find these days so is a real bonus. The selection of starters is delicious and will easily satisfy 2-3 people. The mains are substantial and reasonably priced. If you get a chance have the pancakes (weekend lunch only I think) cos they are amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant.

El Khamsa is a home for seekers of new things, adventurous and happy people, it is also the home which is so far away and yet close because it brings all the values, the traditional Berber decor, music and cuisine to the heart of London.

Beautiful atmosphere created by a lovely couple from kabylia. Their attachment to their ancestral background added lot of value in building up a relaxed and truly different environment.

The best starter is mashed pepper and tomatoes with olive oil, to have with hand made traditional bread (aghroum). The couscous is very close to one's mum's cooking. Soft couscous, tasty sauce with grilled meat. The only dish I always take when I go there. The other dishes look tasty and well presented.

I really do recommend you to give it a try.

I regularly travel for over an hour to eat at this gem of a restaurant! I have not yet come across a North African restaurant in the UK that gives me a taste of the authentic Algerian cuisine until I was introduced to Khamsa. Not only is the food a delight to the taste bud but the chef is highly artistic so Khamsa is an experience for the all the senses. The atmosphere is great and so is the music. The restaurant is run by this lovely couple that is very warm, courteous and friendly. An experience I would wholly recommend!

This has been our favourite local since we moved here, and we're really sad to be leaving the area and the convenience of being just round the corner from this great little place. the service is relaxed and friendly, and I always enjoy a chat with Jamaal and Sabrina. The menu is like the place itself: simple, interesting, inviting. Pretty much every dish is a hit - the new salmon one in particular is amazing. We've never had desserts as shared starter&tagine is always plenty. Plus, considering it's BYO and that brings a decent saving, it's incredibly good value for a family run place.

When I think of Khamsa I have fond memories of not just a most fabulous culinary crusade, from magnificent sharing plates (the homemade dips are to die for), tajines that will tickle anyone's tastbuds and wait till you delight in the deserts - homemade little bundles of bakery love! Jamil and Sabrina from the very first night they made room for myself and two friends (we had just turned up without booking) we were welcomed most splendidly! Over the years Khamsa has become a place that feels like a home. A home you can enjoy great food and conversation in. A home whose owners make you feel so welcome it's humbling!

I have recently returned to my native Australia, after a decade in London. I miss the Khamsa experience so very much! That's what it is people, an experience. And a wonderful one at that - every time!!! GO ONCE AND YOU'LL COME BACK FOR MORE!

Fantastic flavors that tickled my intellectual, welcoming and charming owners that reminded me my several trips to the East. I had a beans dish with some mince lamb and my wife had chicken with a mix of olives, peppers and sausages, we've enjoyed sharing. we also had a platter of fresh salads and a delicious home made lemonade. The place was cosy and the music was interesting . very good value for money as well.

We'll definitely make it again next I am in town.

Friday night around 7pm myself and my partner thought we would try this place, from the start the welcoming into the restaurant to sitting down to ordering food, we both felt very uncomfortable and made unwelcome with remarks as your lucky to have a table here and sitting us in the middle table when the other seats were not booked until 8:30. Regardless of this their conversation and attitude to serving us was awful. The food then - I ordered a Lamb meatball dish my partner the skewered chicken and beef. These dishes were both around 13/14 pound as a main course and at this price you would be expecting a good dish.

The Lamb meatball dish was a huge disappointment when it came, for £13.50 I basically had a tin of white beans and 4 small Lamb meatballs that were Lamb mince screwed up, kind of like the Tesco value meat you see. The menu described the dish to be a Lamb dish and have loads of flavor. I got white beans paprika and coriander. Have to say for the price, totally not worth it. Bland and boring

The beef and chicken skewer was delivered with no care to the table and was not explained. Meat was on the huge bowl of couscous  and a bowl of soup to the side. This confused us as the menu did not indicate this. When asked how traditionally this should be eaten, the chef explained this to my partner in a way you would to a 3 year old child. The meat was chewy and looked to be the cheapest cut possible as the bit I tried had grizzle all the way through it.

The only enjoyable part of the meal was the home made bread and oil that we got, however, trying to order this was a massive ordeal as we only wanted a small snack whilst waiting for our meal and they wanted to try and sell us a huge started that was for four people. Not to sound like a cheapskate all we wanted was a small starter.

Overall a terrible experience and poor food. Be warned if your not a local the above is what most likely you will experience.

Came out for my birthday on a snowy night and had the best experience. The door was locked when we arrived and we were immediately let in and shown to our table. The people who looked after us for the night I presume were the owners as they did so with great charm and personality, knowledge of the food and a non intrusive but attentive style. We had the 7 salad selection in a beautiful flower shaped selection of mini bowls like a pot thali. The salads were great, one of them was amazing walnut and anchovy paste which was great on the delicious bread. One salad looked a bit mushy, but turned out to be delicious green peppers with a really nice flavour. Then came the special which was a sweet potato and chicken tagine which 3 out of four of us ordered. This was amazing, tender chicken, lovely potato, it was clearly freshly made and very tasty. Anyway this was the best place for my 39th birthday and I will definitely be aiming to frequent this place, as a resident from neighbouring peckham.

Possibly the best restaurant meal I have ever eaten. We went at a group of 6 that quickly turned into 7 without any bother. We all agreed that the flavours were incredible, the service excellent, we all loved and took advantage of the BYOB, which also made it a very cheap meal. I live in Cornwall but am back in London next weekend and I am taking another group of friends there.

Had a great meal at Khamsa last night. Very good food, friendly owners, and you can bring your own wine. Will be going back soon

Carolyn

Khamsa must have some of the healthiest, most delicious home-cooked food in London. Luckily it is only a few metres from our house and we love going there for a relaxing meal and chatting with the friendly owners. We regularly recommend it to friends and visitors and everybody loves it without exception. Best to reserve at weekends.

Ben

Small, friendly, great food, great people. It's what eating out in London is all about, for me. Wonderful!

If you want to explore the authentic algerian cuisine in a very welcoming and warm atmosphere then this is the place you will need to visit. The chef makes food really taste of where it comes from! The menu is a wonderful playground of tastes and flavours. Khamsa is a rare and special place to discover a whole mouth watering delicious food. I would highly recommend it for those looking for a blend of authentic algerian and berber cuisine

Salim

Khamsa thoroughly reproduced a warm traditional and very welcoming Algerian style. The service is outstanding and the food faithfuly cooked according to the algerian traditions. Khamsa is the restaurant that I would recommand to all those who would like to discover the algerian food and culture.
