Le Quecum Bar

Django Reinhardt gypsy-swing jazz and a French menu of the nicely old-fashioned variety - but in Battersea, not Bastille.

Battersea’s Le Quecum Bar is dedicated to the Django Reinhardt gypsy-swing genre. Experience an evening of heady 1930s Parisian pleasure, dining from a classic French menu (beef bourguignon, pâté and the like) and take in the cool plucking of a guitar maestro. Feeling inspired? Bring an instrument along to the free ‘gypsy swing jam’ held every Tuesday. Concerts are ticketed on Sundays and Mondays.

Very surprised by the Time Out rating. Went yesterday evening. Despite being quiet - aeffect of the Olympics? The atmospere was friendly (apart from a middle-aged couple who seemed hell bent on sucking each other's faces off )and staff attentive, The food was well cooked and portions generous. The evenings entertainment provided by Tiger Pete? a guitar/ accordian duet who paid homage to Django were excellent - even though the guitarist had eclectic taste in footwear choices! An entertaining and have no hesitation to anyone want to touch a taste of Paris past, enhanced by the sounds of a music genius.
