  • Only been a couple of times but on both occasions found the service excellent. Staff were really lovely and welcoming and the food is amazing!

  • I am a slightly reluctant regular at the Lido Cafe - I'll get to the gripes later, first the pluses: The lovely setting & the elegance of the building draws me back & the large space is, on the face of it, appealing when you visit with children & have a pushchair in tow etc. coffee is good & the breakfasts are excellent. However, the service here is routinely utterly dreadful. At its best it is merely slow - a 30 minute wait for a coffee is entirely routine here. At its worst the service is unfortunately frequently brusque to the point of rudeness. It is also often confused & incompetent. It is not at all unusual to place an order for 3 lattes or some other routine small round of drinks, only to (eventually) receive something entirely different from what was requested. Last time, I was brought a soya decaf latte ( having ordered just a latte). I very apologetically pointed out that this wasn't what I ordered, but e waitress took great exception, huffing & puffing & suggesting that I must have asked for this really or spoken in an unclear way! Another time, another waitress seemed to think it was very unreasonable of me not to accept the espresso ordered by someone else in place of the latte I had actually asked for. Today may have been my last visit. 2 friends & i sat for 20 minutes without attracting any attention from wait staff, the leavings of the previous customers were not cleared, no menus were given & we realised we were no nearer to ordering or receiving any food than when we'd walked in. We decided enough was enough & left for the friendly Florence across the road. They watched us leave & let us go without comment. I do not understand the business model of this place, yet it apparently thrives.

  • Amazing dinner in a stylish venue with a good wine list, great alternative to Brixton village on cold nights. Only been in the evening and service has always been spot on.

  • I love the lido cafe: great food, great view, great atmosphere & friendly and reasonably priced. Easily the best brunch/breakfast in the area. It's also great for kids, with a special menu and toys for the little ones to play with. Make sure you book a table, as it can get very busy.

  • The Lido Cafe has a bit of a disconcerting entrance as you enter via a narrow side door, but once you are in there, what a tranformation! The view on the terrace and out to the pool is beautiful and very peaceful, the Lido Cafe is a great place to watch a sunset sipping a cool glass of white, but also manages to feel suitably cosy in the winter. The quality of the ingredients and desire to use local and seasonal produce is definitely something I look for in a good restaurant and the Lido has never disappointed, I've had many lovely meals there. Their occasional special events are definitely good fun, Flamenco night was great! Recommended to anyone.

  • I'm a happy regular at the Lido Cafe. I've experienced delicious wine tastings there; big celebratory feasts at Christmas & for special birthdays; & even a massively romantic wedding by the water. I've brought friends visiting London to this place literally from all over the world, because it sums up the best things about London: it serves the community, to provide comforting, delicious, high quality food; with a real respect for the provenance of ingredients. Fun, vibrant, and intimate. Perfect.

  • When the sun finally came out in London yesterday I decided to go for lunch at The Lido with some friends. It was a wonderful experience: we sat outside on a lovely wooden table, enjoying the heat under the shade and the wonderful view of the blue pool. It felt like being on holiday! The service was super friendly and attentive. The food was superb, tasty, fresh and generally top quality ingredients for a reasonable price. The freshly squeezed apple, carrot and ginger juice was a highlight, served in a generous sized glass. We are definitely coming back, next time to try the famous breakfast.

  • This is my favourite cafe in South London. The food is always tasty and original, reasonable and not pretentious, and they serve the best coffee anywhere! Also as a Londoner I am sick of bog standard cafes, or chain restaurants, I love somewhere that feels like it has a personal touch, with friendly staff and a family/community feel. The Lido does this perfectly. I have been quite a few times because it is really sunny and welcoming, and does really cheap and good breakfasts and good deals on a wednesday night! I highly recommend!
