This has to be the best vietnamese on Kingsland Road. Yeah, it looks like a canteen and yeah the service isn't always perfect but the food is SO good provided you order some of the more traditional dishes. Beef Betal, Sweet potato fritters and scrispy squid are the best I've had from a Vietnamese. Plus it's BYOB so always a good option when you are a bit brassic.
Not the best, not the worst. But to make my money worth it, I would not come back. Not entirely happy when they forgot one of the dishes I ordered. Took very long and asking questions as if I am trying to scam them out of a dish that is worth no more then £7.
Quite disappointed with the service. The food is not bad, but not the best either. Average would be fair to be honest. The attitude of service is a bit brusque, and I hope they can fix that.
one of my favorite restaurant, i love crispy squid, and especially steamed roll at Loong Kee. I used to be a waitress before so i understand how they feel, thus the customer service here is not too bad for me.
I think the food tasted okay. Cannot complain as it was quite cheap, so I thought I'd be fair on that. But the 2 star came from the bad customer service and poor hygiene. I myself I'd like the table to be clean when offered to new customers to sit down.
Could have been better. The experience there was bad enough to make me write a review and warn others. Just do not waste your money there. Try other restaurants along that road. Don't fall into the same pit as mine.
If the food was not cheap, I would have given this rating 0 star. Even if it is cheap, at least taste reasonable. But it tasted horrible. No t happy!
My wife is Vietnamese and she really wanted to go to a good restaurant. We don't live in London therefore it was a random choice as we would not know any better anyway. To start off, it was a fair Sunday. I am sitting with a cup coffee reflecting back to share my opinion, hoping it will make a difference to those who care. We were greeted politely. Yet I do not understand why they can not let us choose out seating's as there were plenty of tables available. When confronted, the waiter changed his tone, almost careless, neglecting but aggressive manner. Not wanting trouble, we sat at a dark corner, small table it was. My wife is Vietnamese and I let her order what she should know best. We ate normally and thanked the staff as usual. On the way driving home, I asked my wife what she really thought. I was being political, therefore I had said the food was delicious, even though did not enjoyed it. I found out my wife share the same thought, but being Vietnamese, she is nice and was polite. I recommend other restaurants as I see a lot of them there. If you are a local then you probably know better. I took my chance and it was a bad one. Hope this review will make people who have a hard time deciding make a good choice. If I knew about online reviews, I would definitely read them before coming.
Very disappointed lately. Not what is used to be. More tables were fitted, now seats are so cramped it is impossible to get around, so uncomfortable. Hardly see any waiters or waitresses around because they are all busy with other similarly demanding customers. Just hire more people for god's sake. If the food is good, then fair enough. But NO. It's salty and oily. What happened to Loong Kee? I was so frustrated that I went on google to see what other eaters have a say about it. Not to my surprise, I found an article of Loong Kee shut down by Hackney council in April 2013 for one week because a customer complaints of cockroaches. That just said it all. A once empire now going downhill. I had my good days with Loong Kee, but not coming back there ever again and will look for a new restaurant to be crowned as my new favourite Vietnamese restaurant.
Ive tried almost all the global Vietnamese restaurants globally. My husband and wife and I like to dress up as Australian Aborigines and order roasted goannas at this restaurant. They bring us spring rolls and salt/pepper squid as a substitute which is delicious. I once went to Vietnam. The French cuisine was divine.
My husband and I have eaten at most of the vietnamese restaurants in Shorditch but have to say Loong Key is by far our Favourite and now we wont eat anywhere else, we eat here atleast once a month, the food is reasonably priced and absolutely delicious, especially addicted to the salt chilli squid and prawn's and grilled scallops, hanoi fish..shakin beef...it's all so fresh and gorgeous.

I have tried just about all of the Vietnamese restaurants along Kingsland Road and this one has the perfect balance between price and quality. My advice is to order from the Vietnamese menu, and try something new every time. I've lived in London all my life and this is in my top three best places to eat. The Pho soups are especially good.
I have worked in the Shoreditch area for years and this is by far the nicest Vietnamese cafe along the Kingsland strip. The food is always so fresh, authentic and consistent. They cannot be faulted and if the Vietnamese eat in there then that says it all!
