Have been going to Mahal on Essex Rd since it opened about 18 months ago. Always thought it was great. Then didn't go for a couple of months and went back with my wife and a friend last Tuesday. Oh my god this place is phenomenal. Magnificently tasty delicious food, surprising recipes, great value, attentive service. Our friend is a serious foody. He was blown away. This place must be one of the best kept secrets.

I have had a few take aways now from here mainly Chicken Korma and popadams and fried rice or pilat rice which is while with mixed coloured rice and the korma is mild sweet and really creamy with loads of flavor and loads of sauce and daka dahl the staff are extremly pleasant and friendly and helpful and also add exra popadoms at no charge if you want good food and good service and clean relaxed atmosphere plenty of tables then say no more enjoy and aslo they give 15% of the price of your meal 10 out of 10 Brilliant food ......

One of the VERY best Indians in north London, -- and yes, I know that's a huge claim but this place is extraordinary (and I've made it a mission to try many many MANY). Bangladeshi influenced, they have all your favourites plus plenty new, unusual and inspired. Dal to die for. Their lamb is off the charts. Try the kadhi gosht, the spicy calamari, the goan fish curry. Plenty of veggy stuff. The prices are incredibly reasonable for a sweet place with excellent friendly service, nice wine/beer list and PHENOMENAL food.
