Party of 11 visited the Fulham branch for dinner on 7th Oct 2011, and it was an UTTERLY RUBBISH EXPERIENCE. I had decided to take my colleagues out for dinner to MasalaZone because I have visited their Covent Garden branch several times, and enjoyed the experience (food, ambience, service) every single time. However the Fulham branch is a blot on Masala Zone's reputation. The booking was intially made for 14 people. And as per rules I a deposit of £3 per person when making the booking. But for some logic defying reason, I was told yesterday that since only 11 people turned up, I was going to lose a deposit of £9!! I can understand the need for a deposit in order to secure prime evening business and not lose out on other customers in case of a no-show, but to deduct £3 per person as penalty?? Who are they kidding? I was told clearly on the phone when making the booking that it would be possible to get a 15% discount for a group of 8 people with the intial sign up vouchers from their website. So I took two vouchers, and when I presented them while paying the bill, I was told in front of my guests that the vouchers could not be used for the 'menu I had chosen'. This was the opposite of what I was told on the phone when making the booking. How can a business uphold its reputation by telling lies to their customers? Needless to say I shall not be visiting ever again, and no one in my party is ever going to recommend it to anyone, ever. I made a mistake booking a table there last night, and I will regret spending £230 for a pathetic experience.
