Modern design meets traditional Indian virtues and the result is a marvellous marriage of the two. This smart restaurant is very contemporary, kitted out in spicy orange and regal purple with lovely decor all around. The dishes have been slightly modernised, but only in the sense that we're all eating more heathily these days, so fat content has been lowered and fewer artificial colourings are in use. The food is delightful, spicy and fresh and winning. In fact, you will probably find yourself surrounded by purring regulars on your first visit. Dishes include the classics you love, like lamb tikka, samosa, onion bhajia, tandoori specialities, special duck dishes, classic chicken tikka masala, featherlight naan and all the trad curries. Baltis are available if you ask nicely. The service is warm and helpful and the entire experience very nice indeed.

This has to be the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. It may be fine for couples but if there are more than 10 of you they just can’t cope.

This is the second time I have experienced this at Milbank Spice. Although we were offered a menu, we were told we were all getting the same starter 'mixed grill'. We were then told we had a choice of chicken, lamb or prawns. There was no option to select anything off the menu. All the options were served with the same bland red creamy sauce, apart from one person who had demanded a Jalfrazy, they still got the same sauce but with a couple of green chillies chopped up and thrown in.

If Milbank Spice can’t cater for large parties then they should make this clear when the booking is made (and a booking was made some days in advance so it’s not like they can claim they were surprised by the 20 people turning up). Its not the first time this has happened to me at this establishment so its obviously not a one off problem in the kitchen.
