A large, significantly upgraded corner pub on a quiet residential street, the Morgan has a country-kitchen vibe. Its gastropub status is signalled by a large triptych of garlic and fresh produce on the wall of the main bar area, the continental awning outside and the separate dining area with a chalked-up daily menu at its entrance.
Food doesn’t disappoint: diners may find mains such as chargrilled 21-day-aged rib-eye steak; roast cod with mash and purple sprouting broccoli; or roast pork belly stuffed with prune, sage and apple.
But drinkers are not forgotten: Sharp’s Doom Bar, Adnams and Bitburger are served from a small bar counter, and there’ll be about three dozen wine choices on the regularly updated list.
