  • I read the previous reviews and realised they were, all in all, historic in terms of The Morgan Arms as it is now (2010/11 isn't exactly recent). I have no experience of the place in 2010/11, as the first time I ate there was around July 2011, but I can't concur with the previous reviewers' comments on service. I can only imagine they have taken the comments on board with great success. If you want to eat in the bar area you're more than welcome to and the restaurant area is great if you want to be away from people who are just drinking (hardly in a rowdy way, it has to be said). The food has been continually very, very good gastropub - which is exactly what you'd expect for a £15 lunch, anything less would be a disappointment. It's still on the high end of price, but you're guaranteed decent food, thoughtful service and a great pint of well-kept ale. This is only seconded by the fact that I've been there on a Sunday and found it packed to the rafters. That says it all.

  • I went to this pub a few weeks ago for the first time and thought it was really brilliant. It's such a friendly and relaxing place with great decor. The food was really tasty and very reasonable. Make sure you make room for a dessert they are truly special! There is also a wide selection of drinks. I am moving to London in a few weeks and I will definitely be returning! Thanks!

  • Just googled this pub to send to a friend and found all these terrible reviews. Well, all I have to say is that I thoroughly disagree and not sure what pub these people were at but I've always had a lovely time (been 3-4 times over the years). Most recently, I enjoyed a lovely dinner with three of my closest girlfriends at the weekend - we had booked a table and got one of the best in the house! The service was great and the waiter made a great recommendation on the day's special which I thoroughly enjoyed. The wine list is superb and pairs well with an inspired menu. Looking forward to my next visit!

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Morgan! Since the new manager came in a few months back this place has got even better, amazing food both lunch and dinner, variety of dishes, good prices, excellent wines at a really good price and of course great ales and beers on tap, staff are so lovely and a perfect location. really comfy sofas and seating where you can spend the whole afternoon reading the Sunday papers and feeling at home. Have nothing bad to say about the Morgan! Best gastropub in London hands down

  • Shock Horror! Carrots are the best thing in the roast!! I have had a few Sunday Roasts at the Morgan Arms in 2008, and although expensive they have always been exquisite to taste and generous in serving. On Sunday's, the place has always been extremely busy at both lunchtimes and evenings and you generally have to book ahead. As we lay in bed on Sunday morning in May 2010, thinking about where to go for a roast, the choice was obvious...The Morgan Arms. However, that's where the good news ended. On arrival at the Morgan, the place was empty with only a couple of people in there. We arrived at 1pm. It proudly displayed it's Timeout good food guide 2010 so everything seemed ok. I noticed an unfinished roast on a customer's table and just thought to myself that he must be full or ill. I ordered the lamb leg roast for £15 and my girlfriend the rack of beef for £13. Mine arrived and it looked raw. The lamb was fatty and was more chump than champ. I immediately sent it back to be cooked. I am an avid meat eater and rarely ever send my food back. I'm also colour blind but even i could tell that was too pink for my liking. My girlfriend's beef was red and bloody and would have put any serious meat eater off. WE took photos of the food hoping to upload someday. I left most of my food as did my girlfriend. The roast potatoes were frozen and undercooked, (the old Morgan would only use fresh produce), the yorkshire puddings were frozen not fresh and the best thing on the plate were the carrots which obviously were boiled not roasted. What annoys me is the price for rubbish food. £30 for two inedible roasts. All i can imagine is that the place has come under new ownership. Any review from 2008 is valid as i used to go here, however, DO NOT trust this place now...it's awful. As for the TimeOut award, well you decide how that mistake happened.!!!
