  • Just had wonderful fish and chips, fried to perfection and served by ultra friendly and helpful staff. My only complaint was , in the North we have sliced white bread and butter; they served a roll and butter. However this was more than made up by the helpful staff who could not have done more to make our substantial dinner perfect. OPEN ONE NEAR US SOON !!

  • Prompted to speak up as can't quite believe anyone giving less than 5 stars for this place! Fresh - i.e. actually fresh, sustainably caught, and delivered from the parent shop around the corner (not freshly defrosted, or freshly cooked from frozen...) - fish beats anything in the Borough for flavour, texture, quality. All cooked to order, in front of you, while you wait. Price reflects above and includes chips or a side (fresh tartare sauce good, pickled gherkins good). I'd go there tonight but it's not open on Mondays, quite rightly (fresh fish, no catch on a Sunday...). Only complaint is that quality demands you eat it there and then so it doesn't get soggy by the time you've taken it home, which I can only hope explains a couple of the comments below?

  • Fish was good, chips not so much - just a smart looking (and expensive) takeaway really.

  • hmm, less than average fish and chips. I had seen queues outside so was drawn in expecting something special. The food we received was okay - edible but really not much more. Chips were pale and tasteless. Fish was a little better, but still nothing to get even vaguely excited about. The whole meal was revived only by lashings and lashing of glorious, taste bud numbing vinegar. That's not great, is it? I would not go back, especially at the prices they charge.

  • Good value for money - I had the Gurnard and Chips (chips are free with any fish if it's takeaway) for £6.50 and there was plenty of both. The best FnC's I've had in the country. Well cooked, super fresh fish and good service. The time out review doesn't do it justice.

  • This place is excellent. The fish was very fresh and the batter thin and crispy. Lovely salads too - we had the beetroot one.
