Uzbek dishes are inspired by the many cultures and cuisines that were brought by travellers and traders on the Great Silk Road from East to the Mediterranean. With rice and spices from Southern Asia, steaming and stir-frying from East, curries from the Indian South Asia, slow-cooked meat stews from Central Asia and delicious vegetables from the ancient Samarkand gardens of the central Asia, Uzbekistan has a cuisine that is brimming over with flavour and delicious dishes from all of these cultures.
