Stokie locals have long enjoyed an enviable mix of restaurants on Church Street and Oishiii’s owner, Atique Choudhury, has contributed more than his fair share to this variety, setting up Spices (Indian) in the late 1980s, Yum Yum (Thai) in 1992 and Mercado (Mexican) in 2006. At Oishiii, a dramatic colour scheme of red, white and black prevails throughout, from a glinting scarlet faux-granite counter to a blossom-on-the-branch mural.
The restaurant benefits from a great location and offers a fairly standard Japanese menu giving roughly equal emphasis to sushi/sashimi and cooked dishes including curries, noodles, stir-fries and deep-fried dishes. And if a saké too far puts you in the mood to carouse, karaoke for up to 20 awaits in the basement.

I am a local and this is one of the few places on Church St I attend regularly. It helps that I love sushi, and that the half price menu makes it extremely affordable. The quality of the sushi is very good, not excellent, but I have never felt that it was not fresh or tasty. The ambience is nice, and the service is efficient and good. Overall I think this restaurant offers excellent value for money.
Brilliant, spacious karaoke room....free when you eat and drink lots. Comfy sofas and room to dance as you sing. Lovely. friendly staff plying you with drinks to keep you singing. Great!!!!
Delicious! The Oishi roll is to die for, and the chicken Katsu curry is great too. Half-price sushi on Sunday lunchtime is a good tip too...
