Cinnamon ClubLocated in a former Victorian library, Cinnamon Club is the destination of choice for power brokers, politicians and big-business types. Its spacious dining hall has the feel of a grand colonial club: crisp white linen, a high ceiling, and a gallery of bookshelves adding to the sense of occasion. The menu embraces dressed-up rustic staples and regal stalwarts. A starter of hot yoghurt soup, garnished with meltingly soft gram-flour dumplings, whetted the appetite with a sizzling seasoning of fried curry leaves, popped mustard seeds, and zesty tamarind. Chef Vivek Singh opts for western-style presentation, but doesnt hold back on classic Indian spicing. Juicy tandoori swordfish steak, steeped in gingery yoghurt and crowned with a precariously balanced seared king prawn, delivered the catch of the day: a well-matched balance of tart yoghurt and sea-fresh flavours. We also relished a sizeable helping of fried lamb mince cooked with chicken livers notable for its onion and green cardamom masala, spiked with chilli and toasted garlic. Regional food festivals keep the menu fresh and exciting while promoting the talents of in-house chefs. Try the Indian-themed breakfasts for a spicy beginning to the day.
