Hummus BrosLike many a successful venture, Hummus Bros has a formula that is simple and focused, centred as it is on one key dish. Guessed what yet? Here, the dip comes shaped around the edges of a bowl, which is then filled with vibrant toppings (stewed beef, fava beans, chicken, guacamole). Those in the know put themselves in the hands of the kitchen and order one of two daily-changing (and often excellent) specials. In the past weve had coconut dal, spinach in sesame sauce, tomatoes with pesto, and char siu pork. You wouldnt think these global flavours would work with houmous, but they do. Bowls come with a generous portion of white or brown warmed pitta; side dishes of tabouleh or smoked aubergine appease the very hungry. HBs team of young, cosmopolitan staff are absurdly friendly, often offering customers complimentary mint teas after the meal. If dining in, be prepared to sit elbow-to-elbow with fellow diners in the rather cramped space (ruby-red walls, long wooden benches). Its not an ideal place to linger or talk intimately, but for a nutritious lunch or pre-cinema meal, the Bros are hard to beat. Source: Time Out Eating & Drinking Guide 2008
