London's best review, food and drink news
This younger sister to the ever-popular Maida Vale original is louder, flasher and shinier than its sedate sibling. Stylish retro light fittings, white leather banquettes, metallic textured wallpaper and a mirrored bar make this a fashionable haunt for the area’s wealthy international crowd. The outside tables are busy as soon as the sun comes out, especially at weekends. The menu is the same as the Maida Vale branch, and rarely changes; there’s a wide choice of breakfast dishes, spanning everything from kippers to eggs florentine, plus plenty of salads, sandwiches, pasta and steaks, as well as a few daily specials. On a recent visit we sampled a new fish meze selection, which was excellent; eggs benedict was as flawless as usual, with perfectly poached eggs and tasty hollandaise. The huge, fruity, frothy smoothies are highly recommended, and the cakes are fresh and tasty. Service is swift and professional. All in all, a stylish and reliable outfit.
