London's best review, food and drink news
Jimmy's has occupied the basement of 23 Frith Street for the past 43 years. The menu has changed little in that time, if at all. To be honest, staff tend to look quite bored with it all, and some of the tatty decor wouldn't be out of place on a Christmas tree in the 1970s. But Jimmy's is a Soho institution and ain't going anywhere protected by a loyal customer base and the sheer weight of its history. Meatballs were overcooked and a vegetable moussaka was tasteless and sloppy. Worst of all, plates and cutlery were dirty in places and the tablecloths were polka dotted with cigarette burns. It's all very well hailing longevity, but Jimmy's needs to stop treading water.
