La Maison is a kosher café that serves savoury and sweet crêpes, one or two hot dishes, sandwiches, a few salads and pastries, and a variety of soft drinks. There's some fish but no meat on the menu. ‘Vegetable quiche' was effectively an old-fashioned leek and mushroom bake (but a light, well-flavoured version) topped with mashed potato on good, crumbly, rough-hewn pastry. Velvety dark chocolate and maple syrup crêpe topped with hazelnuts was delightful and staff are fantastically friendly. The most striking aspect of the café, however, is its interior. Owned by artist and designer Linda Cohen, the venue is decked out with crystal chandeliers, amazing wall art, gorgeously attired mannequins and pretty birdcages from her collection. Everything is for sale.
