The new Regent Street Habitat store is inside a grade II-listed building that has seen £4.5 million invested in its restoration. Beautiful original features sit well around Tom Dixon's dark wood and metal stairway and mezzanine on the building's first floor. Customers serve themselves from a neat display of salads, plump rolls and cakes. Respectable tortilla was offered with a choice of six or so salads for £7.50. We liked the Mediterranean mix of aubergine, yellow pepper, red onion and tomatoes, the herby new potato salad, and bowl of sprightly undressed leaves. The filled rolls looked excellent and were generously portioned. The bright Australian service and classy vibe make this a tempting retreat from the thoroughfare outside.
