This tiny café inside one of the Photographers' Gallery buildings – just moments from the buzz of Leicester Square – remains a well-kept London secret, and when the surrounding streets and lunch spots are overflowing with people you can still be sure of getting a peaceful sandwich or cup of coffee at this hideaway. The seating consists of stools arranged around one spacious table; there are newspapers on hand for you to read, or alternatively you can study the gallery's photographs – the café is right in the middle of an exhibition space. Eating options are relatively limited, but they are all prepared to a high standard: savoury snacks on offer include tuna rolls, sundried tomato and mozzarella ciabatta or Greek salad, while sweets available include some truly sublime cakes (lemon, chocolate, carrot).
