London's best review, food and drink news
Formed by two travellers who met by chance in Vietnam, Red Veg is a mini-chain of ethically-led establishments offering vegetarian fast food. Burgers, wraps, wurst and falafels are cooked to order and presented in packaging emblazoned with pseudo-Cyrillic script and five-pointed red stars. Burgers come in six varieties, spicy or non-spicy, the stand-out being the hickory-smoked option with Monterey jack cheese, wholesome and hangover-curing. Falafels are similarly varied and side dishes include stuffed jalapeno peppers and breaded mushrooms. Although the fridge is filled with Whole Earth brand organic ginger and such worthy beverages, you can also pick up a Dr Pepper or an Orangina. The only snag, at this Wardour Street branch in any case, is the space. Should you want to eat in, there are only four cramped tables.
