Hurrah! A pub with a curry house attached. Yet this is no mundane tandoori joint, but a modestly priced, high-quality source of North Indian cuisine. Test its mettle by ordering the tandoori non-veg platter: a glorious, 15-piece ensemble of fiercely seared cod chunks, lamb, tandooried chicken drumsticks (one of ours was a mite undercooked) and chicken tikka. This huge helping left us nearly full before main courses, but we couldn't miss the likes of lal maas (a rich dark-red Rajasthani dish of strongly spiced tender lamb), creamy dahl makhani or mellow murgh shahi korma (lamb in a creamy sauce, properly prepared with ground cashew nuts). Staff are gracious and prompt, swiftly bringing a pint of cider from the bar, which went a treat with the food.
