By the time you realise you're in the former Fu Lee, you've got a napkin placed on your lap and a basket of prawn crackers under your nose. Once you choose from the 150-item Cantonese, Thai and Malay menu options, and 20-strong wine list, your drink will be poured and portions delicately served from dinky, lidded pots. The rather stylish Yune, opened in July 2006, offers five-star service at two-star prices and four-star cuisine by a chef of 20 years' service in Chinatown. The starters feature deep-fried crab claw, crispy aromatic whole leg of lamb and generous platter combos, mains include stir-fried lobster in six choices of sauce, three types of Thai curry and, among 16 meat-free options, sea-spiced aubergine and vegetarian duck. Sauces zing, seafood gently sates, broccoli crunches and the rice satisfyingly separates.

Food and service used to be very good when it first opened. Still friendly but food not quite so good now, more the ordinary Chinese takeaway standard. And service was slower last time we went. Won't be going again.
We have been regular diners at Yune since trying it out shortly after it opened. The food is outstanding and the variety means we never bore of eating there. We have taken several groups of friends and family who were all impressed and more than happy to return. Our daughter's 21st birthday dinner for 26 of us was catered for effortlessly and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff made the night really special. Well worth a visit.
I first tried Yune last year whilst working in Forest Hill and having visited many dodgy Chinese’s in the past I was a bit apprehensive. To my surprise however the food was amazing, the restaurant itself is fantastically clean and the staff are very friendly. I no longer work in Forest Hill and now go out of my way to visit Yune to either sit in and soak up the atmosphere (although sometimes a little too dark) or to pick up a take away. If you like good Chinese food with plenty of choice I would highly recommend Yune.
