Attractively conspiratorial and tattily bohemian from the outside, Zigni House provides an accommodating welcome once you step through its front bar and into the dining area. Said back room decorated with Eritrean artefacts and bookended by a long couch for intimate comfort is dimly lit, so bring a dining partner rather than reading material. You're soon perusing a menu of simple starters and a whole mass of meaty mains though service will be slower thereafter. Lamb, beef and chicken are concocted with a delicious, semi-spicy, rich house sauce, scooped up with strips of filling, spongy injera bread messy for non-initiates. There are a few pulse or chick-pea based vegetarian options too. Wash it down with Asmara beer and finish with a shot of fiery Eritrean sambuca.

London's best review, food and drink news
We had the buffet option and there were about 10 options to choose from. The food was simple but tasty although it might of helped to have some labels on the food to know what we were eating. However the staff were helpful and friendly when asked.
The best part was the music and dancing which was really entertaining. The atmosphere was welcoming and laid back and i would definitely go back again.
Booked a side table and were shown to a thin long formica table between other tables. Waited 45 minutes for our drinks, no ice, lime/lemon was offered or served. Starter arrived after about 55mins, the mixed platter, resembled a selection taken and fried from the freezer, potato wedges, chicken nuggets and samosas, totally crap starter served on a plastic place, mains arrived, one small pathetic chicken leg in a tasty spicy tomato based sauce, waitress splashed me with hot sauce whilst pouring it into the sharing tray, didn't even apologise...all together a crap experience due to the lack of staff and the care of staff, lovely place for atmosphere but totally let down by staff...huge disappointment
